Professor Maria Nikolaιdi visited Shanghai Polytechnic University: an important step in strengthening academic ties!

With an unwavering commitment to fostering collaborations with leading international academic institutions, Professor Maria Nikolaidi of Harokopio University of Athens recently visited Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) in China. This visit marks a significant milestone, following the visit of an SSPU delegation to Harokopio University of Athens in March 2024 for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Institutions.

During her visit to SSPU, Professor Maria Nikolaidi engaged in a series of high-level discussions with the University President, Professor Huaqing Xie, and distinguished members of the University administration, as well as a series of constructive meetings with the Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Professor Bofeng Zhang, and the Associate Dean, Professor Shaojing Song. These meetings were attended by distinguished colleagues from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, as well as officials from the International Relations Office. Professor Nikolaidi’s visit encompassed a diverse range of activities, including campus tours, student interactions, and cultural immersion. During the visit she had the opportunity to enjoy the exceptional hospitality of SSPU and experience the high level of research and teaching conducted at the SSPU.

Additionally, Professor Maria Nikolaidi was invited to present a keynote speech at the 24th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS 2024), entitled “Engineering Smart Cyber-Physical Systems,” held at SSPU from September 20th to 22nd, 2024.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Shanghai Polytechnic University for the exemplary organization of the international conference. We are actively working on the next steps of our collaboration, including joint supervision of doctoral and master’s students, and student exchange programs, particularly in the field of Computer Science.
